BAND BIOGRAPHY:
SNOW IN APRIL can simply be described as ‘classic rock with an edge' -- combining hard driving rhythms and unique vocals whose influences can be linked to anything from the Doors to Pink Floyd and Blondie, assembled in a modern rock format. SNOW IN APRIL brings a combined musical experience of sixty years amongst its members, who are all experienced stage professionals, and have performed on stages in front of as many as 80,000 people, to the local bars with as few as ten. Its members are also seasoned studio professionals, having recorded numerous times at Crosstown Studio, Rockingchair Studio, and Ardent Studio in Memphis, TN as well as ELS Studio in Southaven, MS. We look forward to the opportunity to perform for you. Drummer, Michael “Mick” Pilkington, began his classical training in music at the age of four, and he has since performed in several hard rock/heavy metal acts, such as the bands “REIGN”, “MORTIMER DIPTHONG”, and “ANOTHER SOCIETY”. Notable highlights of his past achievements include several of Mick’s performances at the Milwaukee Metalfest. Mick has extensive experience in a studio environment and is co-producer and co-arranger for the band.
Guitarist and backing vocalist, Joseph “Joe” Michael, has been engulfed in music since his inception, having been born into a musical family. He has studied guitar under the tutelage of the late Miles Lazore and Dr. Tom Schneider, has studied piano under Dr. Steve Katz, and has performed in the bands “FUNKBOX” and “SOUTHERN EXPOSURE”. Joe serves as the music composer, graphic artist, executive producer, and co-arranger for the band.
Lead vocalist, April Pilkington, has been singing since childhood and has performed in front of countless audiences. She shared several of the experiences with her brother Mick at the Milwaukee Metalfest competitions, performing lead vocalist duties for the band “MORTIMER DIPTHONG”. April serves as the prominent lyric writer and co-arranger for the band.
Bassist, Kelly Craig, brings to the table a fine mixture of blues, jazz, and fusion. He has performed in numerous bands, such as ‘SHADOWFAX’, TICKLED PINK’, DOUBLE BARRELL’ and ‘ILLUSION’. A seasoned veteran, he lays down the low end and gives the rhythm section its’ characteristic ‘thump’.
The band SNOW IN APRIL was created to bring together a group of musicians to offer the world a musical product that is unique as frozen precipitation is to the mid-south area in the months of spring. What began in January 2004 was the fusion of a mixture of diverse and contrasting musical influences in order to conjure the kindred spirit that would unite the past with the future. Our mission is to create and perform music that people from all walks of life will enjoy and wish to listen to incessantly.
